Courthouse Owl Family

The now famous Lewis and Clark County Courthouse Great Horned Owl perches beside her almost completely camouflaged nest. Can anyone find her young owlet looking at her?

The courthouse owl has entertained birdwatchers for weeks now after she decided to reuse an old crows nest on the front lawn of the county building located on a busy thoroughfare to raise her two newborns. However, viewing the mother and the new owlets has become much harder now that the Ash tree she is nested in has leafed out.

It is fascinating to walk under the nest and see the remains of all of the critters they have eaten. Yesterday we found a pair of rabbit legs hanging in the tree below the nest and one lone grotesque crow's foot and pile of black feathers on the ground. Earlier reports of a crow pestering the mother on her roost apparently did not turn out well for the crow.
