Inside the MT Capitol Dome

Inside the Montana State Capitol dome. Constructed with local sandstone, granite, stained glass and copper, the ‘Peoples House’ was completed in 1902. I love wandering the halls and rotunda taking In the ambiance, art and craftsmanship of this place - especially on a frigid winter day. . Surrounding the dome are four circular paintings that depict important people of Montana's history: a Native American (intended to be of Chief Charlo), an explorer and fur trapper (Jim Bridger), a gold miner (Henry Finnis Edgar, one of the discoverers of gold at Alder Gulch), and a cowboy (unidentified, but said to be inspired by the works of C.M. Russell).
