Etheral Sunrise In the Land of the Big Sky (Horizontal Version)

An amazing sunrise captured from Canyon Ferry Lake. This is one of the most intense I had seen all year, literally, everything was glowing orange! The surface of the lake was rippled by the wind, so I used a long exposure (~8 seconds) to ‘smooth it out’ creating an ethereal texture and glow to the water. The land features are very silhouetted. I love that isolated little Ponderosa Pine in this image. Off in the distance is Cemetery Island and the highest peaks of the Big Belt Mountains of southwest MT.
