I love finding old windmills and photographing them, however they continue to disappear, making way for a new era in technology and progress. Windmills like this one pumped life into American ranches and farms for 150 years, their function outlasting rural electrification in remote locations where power lines could not reach. However, more and more, these icons of western ranches are being replaced and converted into solar-powered systems that are more reliable and cheaper.
