Winter's Edge

A wintery scene along the rocky shores of Canyon Ferry Lake, Montana. Off in the distance, cemetery island, the reservoir's notable landmark, contains the remains of buried ones from the now submerged town of Canyon Ferry, lying 120 feet below the surface of the lake. In 1955, the damming of the Missouri River filled the valley, along with the town, with its waters. The island has a smattering of broken headstones and grave makers dating back to 1866 and is a popular kayaking destination in the summer.
