Rock, Ice & The River

A frigid and misty sunrise on Montana’s Missouri River below Hauser Dam. A recent cold snap had iced up the shore on this cold (+1 F) morning as a thin layer of fog rose off the river. This canyon, also known as the ‘land of the giants’ for the large rainbow and brown trout that reside here, reminds me of parts of southern Utah or western Colorado, with colorful towering sandstone cliffs that really glow when the sun hits them early or late in the day.
