Rails to Galaxy

An old railroad aims at a milky way galaxy filled sky in central Montana. I took this shot along the abandoned BNSF rail line between Helena and Great Falls. This 94 miles of rail ceased operations in the early 2000s. Some days I try to imagine if it could be used again to haul freight or passengers, or maybe even serve as a trail. It passes through some pretty neat country along its winding route namely, the Missouri River, Little Prickly Pear Creek, and some scenic ranch country in the heart of Montana.
