After a cold spell that snapped record low temps, Canyon Ferry Lake showed off a thick layer of snow-free ice with incredible cracks, fissures and patterns over its surface. I was excited to explore its brilliant surface for compelling foregrounds that hopefully matched an equally interesting sky. I lucked out on a January morning as the sun briefly illuminated the bottoms of the thick clouds creating an ephemeral scene full of drama and beauty before disappearing behind the overcast veil.
