An interesting old log fence, keeps the cows out of the old mining ghost town of Coolidge in the Pioneer Mountains of Southwest Montana. I really liked the geometric symmetry of the fence and the mysterious looking early light poking through the trees. . There are all sorts of names for this type of fence like: split-rail, zigzag and snake fence (my daughters favorite). How do you refer to them? They are used where wood is plentiful and the ground is too rocky to dig holes for posts.
