The Carpenter

A Pileated Woodpecker whacking a dead aspen likely in search of their main prey, carpenter ants. They leave behind a unique rectangular holes in the wood which serve as crucial shelter to many species including swifts, owls, ducks, bats, and pine martens. They really are a stunning bird!
