Missouri River Forever (panorama)
This popular stretch of Montana’s Missouri River will be forever natural thanks to a conservation easement held by Prickly Pear Land Trust and granted by the Juedeman Family. The easement covers, 4,000 acres and 4.5 miles of river front from just downstream of Craig to the Dearborn River junction, ensuring, anglers, hunters, recreationist and local agriculture continue as-is – wild and true. Funding for the easement came from the Lewis and Clark County Open Space Bond. This stretch of river supports the local economy by annually generating nearly $65 million dollars. Every year, 2.3 million motorists enjoy the river’s canyon views from I-15 and roughly 150,000 anglers visit this river by boat, foot or both, making it routinely one of top fishing and recreating destinations in the state of Montana.
