Spring Burn
The Helena National Forest has been conducting prescribed fires south of Helena in Grizzly Gulch. This is the view from tonight's (3-4-2016) sunset over the fire. The burns are aimed at reducing the amount of smaller trees that have encroached into many of the area’s grasslands, creating a more fire resistant and ecologically sound forest condition long-term. Hopefully a little smoke in March will mean a lot less smoke this summer!
