Buffalo Gone (portrait)
A bison skull sits on a hilltop near the Lamar Buffalo Ranch in Yellowstone National Park. The ranch was established in 1907 to preserve Yellowstone’s bison after they had been hunted to near extinction. Today it is an education field campus for the National Park Service and the Yellowstone Forever Institute. Many consider the Ranch the birthplace of Wildlife Conservation.
